In 1996, after graduating from the renowned Robinson School of San Juan, Dr. Alberto Guardiola began his professional education at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, receiving a Bachelor's degree in Biology. He entered the School of Medicine of the Central University of the Caribbean in Bayamón, where he chose Ophthalmology as his specialty. It was at the University of Puerto Rico, in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical Science Campus where he completed his residency in Ophthalmology. In 2008 he moved to the AIO Institute of Ophthalmology in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to carry out his fellowship in Medical and Surgical Retina.

He has received the prestigious certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Despite the fact that he has been in private practice since 2010,  Dr. Guardiola always had the dream of providing his patients with a place where they could get extraordinary eye care with the latest treatments, technology and service.  His passion for the field he represents and his strong relationship with his patients was reason enough to establish West Eye Specialists.
